The Society organises three flower shows each year in the Memorial Hall. there are classes for flowers, fruit and vegetables in addition to floral art, cookery, crafts and a separate section for children's entries. You do not have to be an expert gardener or have a large garden in order to enter.

Entries are staged in the memorial Hall between 9 and 11 on the morning of the show. The Show opens to the public at 2.30 pm and prizes are presented at 4.30 pm.

Autumn Show 2009 Saturday 12th September

The dry weather since mid-August meant an early autumn in the flower garden and this was reflected in the relatively small number of exhibits in the flower classes. However, the entries that were on the tables made a colourful show for our visitors and included some very good quality dahlia blooms and potted plants.

There was keen competition in the vegetable classes, particularly between Chris Kemp and Derek Hillier, and, in a good year for fruit, the apple and plum exhibits were of a high standard.

This show brings 2009 to a close and the committee is grateful to all who have exhibited this year, and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Spring Show on 27th March 2010.

Summer Show 2009 Saturday 11th July

The Summer Show on Chorleywood Village Day was a great success. A good number of high quality exhibits made a bright and cheerful display. One of the highlights in the flower section was the vase of 3 blooms of the rose ‘Lord Louis’ entered by Chris Kemp with which he won the certificate for best exhibit.
Similarly, John Beech was awarded the Royal National Rose Society Bronze Medal for the premier bloom in the show for his rose ‘Buxom Beauty’.

Competition was fierce in the vegetable classes but Derek Hillier was a worthy winner of the certificate for best exhibit for his fine collection of vegetables.

Newcomer, Mr Bryce Mitchell, not only won the Newcomer’s Award but also collected the Grand Fleet Trophy for his redcurrants.

Thanks are due to all who staged exhibits, not only in the flower and vegetable classes but Floral Art, Crafts and Cookery. Obviously, without them, we would not have a show at all so the Society are grateful to all members who support us in this way.

We are keen to welcome new exhibitors in all sections of the show and help and advice on staging exhibits is always available. The Autumn Show is on Saturday 12th September and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the War Memorial Hall on that day, exhibitors and visitors alike. If you would like to enter and don’t have a schedule you will find details of all the classes elsewhere on this website and you can even download an entry form.

Spring Show 2009 Saturday 28th March

 Winner Chorleywood Bookshop Award

Despite the early date and the late spring a large and splendid display of flowers was staged for the Society's Spring Show. The range of daffodils was particularly impressive and competition was close. In the end the award for best exhibit was given to Mrs Nicola Willey, not for daffodils, but for her vase of mixed flowering shrubs. Mrs Joyce Butcher won the award for best vegetable for her rhubarb and Mrs Irons was given the certificate for best floral art exhibit for her delightful arrangement of spring flowers.

This year for the first time there was a class in the Floral Art Section for the interpretation of a book title. The prize for this was donated by The Chorleywood Bookshop and the Society is grateful for their generous support and look forward to staging this competition again next year.

Our next show is on 11th July and we hope to welcome many exhibitors and visitors on that Saturday. New exhibitors are always welcome - there is a special newcomer's prize that can be won at every show.

Autumn Show - 2008 Saturday 13th September

Once again the poor weather reduced the number of dahlias and roses on display. However, members still managed to exhibit a colourful selection of flowers and house plants and the Division B classes were particularly noteworthy for the range and quality of fruit and vegetables on the tables. Richard Irwin was a deserved winner of the best exhibit award for his ‘fuschia in a pot’ and similarly Derek Hillier more than earned his award for his collection of vegetables.

Cllr Mrs Margaret Jarrett (Chairman of the Open Spaces Committee of Chorleywood Parish Council) presented the awards along with the prizes in the Best kept Allotment Competition, which is judged each year by members of the committee of this Society on behalf of the Parish Council.

The committee thank and congratulate all members who entered shows this year and look forward to seeing everyone again for the first show of 2009 on Saturday 28th March.

Summer Show - 2008 Saturday 13th July – Chorleywood Village Day

Enthusiastic members of the Society found sufficient exhibits to produce a large and colourful show.

The rain during the week before the show had not dampened their enthusiasm although it had reduced the number of roses exhibited. Some of the blooms were still of a good standard particularly John Beech’s exhibit which won the Royal National Rose Society’s Bronze Medal for Premier Rose in the Show. The vegetable section was particularly well supported with many high quality entries. Derek Hillier won the Worshipful Company of Gardeners Certificate for the best exhibit in the vegetable classes for his ‘collection of vegetables’ and the Grand Fleet Cup for his mouth-watering strawberries. Click here for list of cup winners.

The Society is hugely grateful to all who supported the show and the committee look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Memorial Hall on 13th September for the Autumn Show. If you haven’t entered before why not have a go? Many of the classes are very simple and there is a special award at each show for the best novice entrant.

Spring 2008
Our Spring Show was very successful despite the unavoidable absence of several regular exhibitors and the snow and frost the week before. There was a large and colourful display of flowers and pot plants and the floral art classes were particularly well supported. Among the highlights of the show was Mr Wheeler’s vase of double daffodils for which he won the Newcomer’s Prize. This is available at every show for a new exhibitor whose entry is of an especially high standard. Mrs Harer’s entries in the floral art classes also deserve a special mention and enabled her to win the Blake Smith Cup for the most points in this section. A list of trophy winners can be seen by clicking here.

The Summer Show will be held on Saturday 12th July and we look forward to welcoming exhibitors both experienced and novice. We would be particularly pleased to welcome young people. Our children’s section has classes for ‘under 9s’ and ‘9-16 year olds’ and at the Summer Show these include exhibits of ‘5 jam tarts’, ’a birthday card’ and ‘a model’. So why not have a look at the schedule and think about making some entries.

If you decide to enter any of the classes you can download an entry form from this website (click here) or collect one from 12 Berks Hill from the 1st July. The completed form, along with the appropriate entry fees must be delivered to 12 Berks Hill, on or before the evening of Wednesday 9th July. Late entries may not be accepted.

Autumn 2007

The Autumn Show provided a large and colourful display of exhibits with a higher number of entries than in 2006. The Quality of the vegetables and fruit in the Division B classes was particularly impressive, but all sections were well supported and we welcomed several new exhibitors. There was close competition for many of the trophies and congratulations are due to all winners.

This was the last show of the year and the Committee thanks everyone who has taken part and helped to make 2007 so successful. We look forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to the Memorial Hall for the 2008 Spring Show on 12th April.

This took place at the War Memorial Hall on Saturday 14th July and was one of the Village Day attractions. Among the highlights were Mrs Willey's vase of herbaceous perennial and her collection of vegetables, both of which were awarded 'best exhibit' certificates.
